Medicare funding for psychologists
Since November 2006, people with a GP Mental Health Care Plan can be referred to a psychologist (who is registered with Medicare Australia) for 12 sessions in a calendar year, and can claim a rebate for these sessions. All our psychologists are registered with Medicare Australia.
Our fee for sessions under this scheme:
Our practice is happy to bulk bill people who have a Health Care Card therefore they will not have any out of pocket expense for the sessions.
For people who do not have a Health Care Card, our fee is $120, with a rebate of $78.40 from Medicare, meaning the out of pocket expense is $41.60.
A $15 cancellation fee applies if less than 24 hours notice is given.
Individuals may access therapy sessions as a result of being a victim of crime which will be paid by VRAS (Victims Referral and Assistance Service) directly. Please contact Victims Support Agency on 1800 819 817 for further information.
